Gervis Place stop changes - from 14th December

Tuesday, December 12 2017

Owing to emergency road defect investigations taking place in Gervis Place, Bournemouth Square, the U4 and many morebus services will be diverted to arrive and depart from different stands from 0600 on Thursday 14th December 2017. It is expected that the works will continue for several weeks whilst the appropriate surveys and repairs are carried out.

Gary Powell, Head of Traffic Management for Bournemouth Borough Council, said: “Unfortunately it has been discovered there are suspect voids under the road which we need to investigate. We apologise for any inconvenience the partial closure will cause, which is necessary to enable us to fully survey, explore and understand the extent of the problem. The road will not re-open until appropriate repairs have been completed. This is likely to be done after the festive period.”

Richard Wade, Morebus operations manager, said: “The safety of our passengers and other road users is our number one priority, and we appreciate the work Bournemouth Borough Council is doing to further investigate the suspected defects."

The U4 towards the University will remain unaffected and depart from Stand S in Gervis Place as normal.

The U4 towards Westbourne will not serve Gervis Place. It will serve a temporary stop in Westover Road instead before progressing to Westbourne through Gervis Place without stopping.

Other morebus services including m1/m2, 13 and 17 will be affected and details of these changes can be found on the morebus website below:
